A Bexleyheath teen has bagged herself a spot in one of the most prestigious performing arts groups in the country after wowing judges throughout a lengthy audition process.

Lanre Akinjayeju, 13, won a coveted place with West End Kids, regarded as one of the UK’s best-known musical theatre song and dance troupes, which will see her perform in front of thousands across the country.

The Year 8 student's first events will include the Imagine Children's Festival at the Southbank Centre on February 18 and the Mariposa Ball at London's Savoy Hotel on April 6.

Speaking on her wonderful achievement, Lanre said: "I had watched many videos of WEK performing on YouTube prior to auditioning and was very impressed with their standard of performing and level of professionalism.

"I found the audition and trial period very nerve-wracking, but I had a lot of fun with the challenge.

"When I found out I had been offered a place in the troupe I was in complete disbelief."
