A “wonderful little café” in Belmont is set to shut for good as its owners decided against extending its lease.

The Usual Place, in Station Road, is closing on February 22 after first opening its doors five years ago during 2014.

But its owners, Ender and Caroline, are waving goodbye to the community after deciding against extending the place’s lease.

“Our five-year lease has come to a natural end,” they said in a statement.

“Due to personal circumstances, we have decided not to extend the lease. We have had an amazing five years in this beautiful village and will miss every one of you.

“We would like to thank you for your custom and wish you all the best.”

It’s not clear what will replace The Usual Place café at the moment, but one customer expressed their sadness after learning of the news.

In a tweet, Geoffrey Christian said: “Such a shame that this wonderful little café will be closing [on February 22].

“I will miss them and I’m sure many other people in the Belmont area will do too.”

Other social media users were also sad and disappointed to learn of the news after it was announced on Facebook.

One said: “So sad. You have made so many people happy in the last five years. Belmont has lost a great place to meet. Good luck.”

Another commented: “Such a shame. So friendly and excellent food. A great asset to Belmont.”
