WIDNES colleges have been recognised for keeping the Poppy Appeal alive and thriving.

Cronton Sixth Form and Riverside College received a very special and heart-warming thank you from The Royal British Legion for their outstanding commitment during last year’s poppy collection events.

The Royal British Legion is a British charity that provides support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces.

In support of the charity, students and staff got involved in different events such as the Poppy Appeal to help raise funds for the charity.

To show it appreciation for the fantastic effort by the students, The Royal British Legion invited Cronton student Owen Cheetham and a tutor to the Halton Stadium, along with representatives from various schools across the Halton region, to be presented with a certificate of remembrance.

Mehrdad Daliri, programme manager at Cronton said: "I was so proud of the Colleges when Owen collected the certificates at the presentation, it was great to see how much work was put into the fundraising events."
