ROBBERS have left shop-workers shaken after stealing cash and cigarettes from an off-licence in Widnes.

Detectives investigating the robbery at Bargain Booze in Derby Road have released CCTV images of the incident.

At about 9.40pm yesterday, Tuesday, February 5, two men entered the shop as staff were cashing up.

The offenders stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing in the direction of Birchfield Road.

Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV images to get in touch.

They also want to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed, or has footage of, anything that may help the investigation.

Detective constable, Vicki Abraham, said: "The incident has understandably left those who were working at the off-licence when the robbery took place shaken up and we are determined to catch the offenders and bring them to justice.

"The offenders were both white and spoke with a local accent.

"One of them had a blonde/ginger beard with grey flecks and was around 6 foot tall and had a stocky build.

"The other was of a similar height but was slimmer.

"We are at a very early stage of our investigation into the robbery.

"Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who believes they recognise the men in the CCTV images and may know who they are to come forward.

"The same goes for anyone who was in the area and thinks they may have seen the offenders or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them."

Anyone with information or CCTV footage should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 314058, give the details online or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Dashcam footage can be submitted online.
