A SUSPECTED fraudster has been arrested after a pensioner was targeted in a scam.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old man from Widnes was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation following an incident in Halewood yesterday, Monday.
The force received reports of a fraud against a man in his 80s at around 11.45am on February 4.
Officers attended an address in the area before a police chase led to a white van being stopped on Watkinson Way in Widnes.
While the occupants ran from the vehicle, four men were located nearby and detained by police.
A 25-year-old man from Wigan, a 22-year-old man from Castleford and a 20-year-old man from Connah’s Quay were also arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
All four were taken for questioning and remain in custody.
