POLICE are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a collision on the M62 left a man in a critical condition in hospital.
The crash happened at 7.46pm on Wednesday between junction 8 and 7 on the M62.
The collision involved a car and two HGVs on the westbound carriageway and a short time later a pedestrian was hit by a number of vehicles.
As a result both carriageways were shut for several hours.
A 20-year-old man from Warrington sustained life threatening injuries and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.48pm to the M62.
"There was a male patient.
"He has been taken to hospital with major trauma injuries.
"We had two ambulances, an advanced paramedic and a rapid response vehicle on the scene."
The spokesman added that the man suffered a head injury, leg injuries and chest injuries during the incident.
