CHESHIRE'S police and crime commissioner will be in Warrington tomorrow, Friday, to discuss policing in the town.

As part of the ongoing consultation, David Keane is asking taxpayers if they support an increase to the policing precept in local council tax payments by £2 per month (for the average band D household).

In December, the Government announced that Cheshire Constabulary would receive funding to cover unavoidable pressures on policing but it assumes that Cheshire taxpayers will fund almost two thirds of this through an increase of the policing precept.

Residents and businesses across Cheshire are being asked to complete a survey to give their views on the precept ahead of the commissioner setting the constabulary’s budget in February.

The commissioner will be in Golden Square Shopping Centre between from 11am to 2pm tomorrow, Friday, encouraging people to fill in the survey and talking to them about their priorities for police funding.

Alternatively, you can also give your views by completing a survey on the Cheshire PCC website by visiting cheshire-pcc.gov.uk/what-im-doing/get-involved/public-consultations/open-consultations/budget-consultation.

The consultation closes at midnight on January 27.
