A PARISH in Runcorn is set to host a programme of educational sessions for those wanting to learn more about the Christian faith.

St Maximilian Kolbe, which covers St Edward's church and the Holy Spirit church will be putting on talks called Alpha, which look at questions surrounding religion, designed to create conversation.

Originally developed as a short course in London, Nicky Gumbel took over the running of Alpha in 1990 and found that many people outside of the church wanted to explore the Christian faith.

Alpha is now run in over 100 countries, has been tried by 24 million people and everyone is welcome to attend.

After being welcomed there is a meal, an opportunity to chat with new friends, a video presentation, followed by open discussions.

At this point tea, coffee and dessert will be served and after a short time of worship, the evening is brought to a close.

The sessions will take place between Monday, February 4 and Monday, April 15 at St Edward’s Church, Ivy Street, starting at 6.30pm.

Alpha Youth will also be starting on February 3 from 12pm and information can be found here.

If people want to find out more about Alpha they can contact the Parish by calling 01928 577755 or by visiting the parish website.
