FIVE bundles of joy were welcomed into the world at Warrington Hospital on New Year's Day.

The maternity unit at the Lovely Lane site saw three girls and two boys born on the first day of 2019, with the first baby arriving less than two hours into the new year at 1.49am.

Sarah and Kevin Tickle's as-of-yet unnamed daughter was the first baby to appear, becoming a younger sister to the couple’s two-year-old son James.

Baby Albie George was then born at 3.04am to mum Eleanor, weighing in at 7.2lbs.

And the birth of little Logan David Holden-Jinks at 8.01am was extra special for his family.

Born to parents Bridie Holden-Trotter and Lewis Jinks, Logan shares a birthday with his granddad David Holden - who turned 50 the very same day.

Lidia Martinez Salas and David Greenhill also welcomed their newborn daughter Eva into the world at Warrington Hospital on New Year’s Day.

The Mayor of Warrington Cllr Karen Mundry visited the hospital on Tuesday to congratulate the new parents and presented each New Year’s Day baby with a silver spoon, alongside her son and consort Jason and Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust chairman Steve McGuirk.
