A CARE home in Thelwall was evacuated last night.

Residents and staff were evacuated from Thelwall Grange Care Home, on Weaste Lane, shortly before 9pm on New Year’s Day after reports of a possible fire.

On arrival, firefighters discovered a ‘slight smell of burning’ on the second floor of the building but no signs of a blaze were found.

Two fire engines were in attendance for more than an hour-and-a-half.

Crews advised the care home to have an electrician attended to inspect the building’s wiring.
