STAFF at a convenience store in Latchford have decorated their beards with baubles in order to raise funds for charity.

Ahead of Christmas, Terence Reilly and Atul Hathi - manager and owner of the Londis on Thelwall Lane respectively - have dyed their facial hair and accessorised them with festive decorations.

Their new look is in aid of the Salvation Army, with a raffle for a Christmas hamper in-store having raised around £400 for the charity.

Warrington Guardian:

Thirty-three-year-old Latchford resident Terence, who joined the store this year after nearly two decades at Morrisons, said: “This Christmas, I wanted to raise money for the Salvation Army because it’s a charity that a lot of people are fond of.

“I’ve dyed my beard blue, and Atul has dyed his lilac - I’m not sure who looks more stupid, because we’ve both been putting beard balls on as well.

“The customers love it - people see it and ask why I look like an idiot with a blue beard.

“It was supposed to wash out after about seven washes, but I’ve had about 20 showers since and it’s not changed colour at all.

“Someone came in the other day and said that I was very brave dying my beard blue, and donated a tenner.

“It’s a very close community here - we know a lot of the customers by name, and it’s made them laugh while raising a lot of awareness for the charity.”
