THE GRIEVING family of a man whose body was discovered in the Mersey in Widnes are desperately trying to piece together the final moments of his life.

Colin Williams, from Westbank, was found in the river close to Mersey View Road in Halebank at around 11.40am on November 14.

Emergency services were in attendance and a specialist underwater search team assisted with recovery of the body.

The 43-year-old's death is not being treated as suspicious and there is not believed to be any third part involvement.

A full case file is currently being prepared for the coroner.

One month later, Colin's family and friends are no closer to understanding what happened to him.

They are urging anyone who was in the area to let police know if they saw or spoke to anyone who looked like Colin in the run up to his death.

Adele Rogers, 52, who is Colin's cousin, said: "There are 14 hours where we don't know where he was.

"We are trying to see if there was anyone who spoke to him or might have seen him.

"Don't hold anything back because we are the ones left with the questions.

"Did you have a phone call from him and didn't realise how important it was at the time?"

The day before his death Colin, who was originally from Bootle in Liverpool, was said to be wearing a navy blue hooded jacket, dark jeans, a black man bag and a pair of Skechers trainers.

Adele added: "We are just distraught.

"It was so out of character for him.

"He was such a fun, loving, caring and beautiful person who touched the hearts of everyone who met him.

"The more information we can get the better."
