THE final round of the 2018 Warrington Athletics Club Schools Cross Country League featured a mix of new winners and repeat achievers.

Jack Marwood, Alice Nicholson, Melissa Ince and Erik Marshall completed hat-tricks in this year's series, while Eva Jha and Zak Chamun celebrated first victories of the competition in round three at Walton Gardens on Saturday.

King's Leadership Academy student Rebecca Nixon made it two wins from three events in the year 10 and 11 girls' section, continuing her comeback from injury with a 96-seconds success.

Her nearest rival was Great Sankey's Rebecca Hardwick and her teammate Faye Humphreys, who was a further 55 seconds behind.

Great Sankey won the day's team race.

Lymm High School's Marshall, a member of Warrington Athletics Club, was another of Saturday's big victors, winning the year eight and nine boys' race by 52 seconds to complete a series hat-trick.

Great Sankey High's Ben Pucill was 19 seconds ahead of third-placed Marcus Trevithick from Bridgewater High.

Beamont took the team prize ahead of Bridgewater and Great Sankey.

Jha from St Philip Westbrook C of E Primary School finished five seconds ahead of Bradshaw County Primary School's Esme Heavey in the primary school girls' race.

Ellie Barker from St Elphin’s CE Primary School was third after crossing the line a further four seconds behind.

St Monica's Catholic Primary School completed a full house in winning the team race for the third time with 46 points.

Nearest rivals on the day were Ravenbank Community Primary School (69 points) and St Peter’s Catholic Primary School (81pts).

Ravenbank's Marwood was 13 seconds clear as he completed his third win of the series in the primary school boys' age group in 6mins 31secs.

Tyreece Swinton from Broomfields Junior School was second, nine seconds ahead of third place Jacob Pryor from St Peter’s Catholic Primary School.

A dramatic outcome in the team event was nailed by Ravenbank, who had finished on the same number of points as Broomfields but their fourth counting runner finished in 18th place compared to Broomfields' fourth runner getting home in 20th place just three seconds adrift.

Nicholson's success for Great Sankey High School in the year seven girls' race was by a margin of 17 seconds.

Bridgewater's Harriet Bell, who finished second, was four seconds ahead of third-placed Corin Smith from Lymm High School.

In the team event Bridgewater beat Great Sankey by 25 points to 29.

Chamun ran out the winner of the year seven boys' event for Great Sankey, reaching the finish nine seconds ahead of Bridgewater's Alex Rix while Lymm High School's Max Ryder was a further 24 seconds behind in third.

A second team prize on the day was clinched by Bridgewater with 25 points, while Lymm (32 points) and Beamont Collegiate Academy (42 points) claimed second and third respectively.

Culcheth High School's Ince made it three wins in a row in the year eight and nine girls' competition, concluding Saturday's effort 12 seconds ahead of Bridgewater's Emily Entwistle and a further 21 seconds in front of third-placed Molly Wormald from Great Sankey.

Great Sankey came out on top in the team event on 21 points, with Bridgewater their nearest rivals on 39.
