BOLTON West and Atherton MP Chris Green has been appointed in a role which scrutinises the work of the Home Office.
The MP, who submitted a letter of "no confidence" in Prime Minister Theresa May last week over the Brexit deal, will sit on the Home Affairs Select Committee.
The committee, which is comprised of 11 MPs, has previously focussed on a variety of matters such as immigration, domestic abuse and policing.
Mr Green, who was elected unopposed, said: “Select committees provide a great opportunity to examine the policies of the department they serve, influencing key policy decisions as a result the committee’s research and debate.
“This is why I am pleased to have been elected to the Home Affairs Select Committee, where I hope to voice the concerns of my constituents, especially on the problems of police funding.”
Mr Green has previously been elected to work on the Work and Pensions Select Committee and Science and Technology Select Committee.
