PLANS have been approved for a new patisserie and tearooms in the centre of Upton village.

The proposals, given the green light by Wirral council this week, will see a former furniture shop on Ford Road transformed under the new owner’s plans.

A description of the proposal submitted to the council said: "I would like to apply for a change of use, from A1 to A3.

"The premises in Ford Road, Upton, is currently vacant (a former furniture shop) and I would like to turn it into a patisserie and tearoom."

It was submitted by applicant and Upton resident Robin Benson, who added: "The offices above the proposed site are also vacant.

"The unit is situated within a row of retail units in Upton village.

"There are a variety of shops and businesses adjacent to and opposite the proposed site."

Also in his application, Mr Benson added how he will install an extractor to the existing kitchen to improve ventilation – and that Biffa will do weekly bin collections.
