WEAVER Vale MP Mike Amesbury visited St Martin’s Catholic Primary School in Murdishaw as part of UK Parliament Week.

UK Parliament Week is an annual festival that engages people from across the UK with Parliament, explores what it means to them and encourages them to get involved.

Mike then took part in a Q&A with year six pupils, who will be visiting Parliament later in the year.

Mike said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the children were really enthusiastic and full of absolutely fascinating insights and ideas.

“I have to say that whenever I visit schools in my constituency I’m always genuinely impressed by the level of knowledge and insight which young people have about really important issues, not only where they live but in wider society.

“I know they’re all looking forward to visiting the House of Commons too.”
