A TEAM of supermarkets near Runcorn are swapping the shop floor for the streets as they trek 330 miles for the NSPCC.

Ted’s Trolley Dash challenge will be completed by a number of Lidl stores which fall under the net of Runcorn's Lidl distribution centre in Eastgate Way, Runcorn.

Teams will travel from Leek to Porthmadog, visiting 25 stores along the way, accompanied by a teddy bear team mascot.

Their aim is to raise a total of £5,000 for NSPCC's safe schools programme.

Kathryn Ormondroyd, from Lidl, said: "We haven’t underestimated the sheer size of this event; we know it will take a lot of blood, sweat and tears in all weather conditions to be a success.

"But we believe in this great charity, and whatever you can donate, big or small will be a huge help to us."

Michael McGrath, head of partnerships at the NSPCC said: "This is such an incredible challenge the team from Lidl are undertaking and we wish them every success.

"The support from Lidl is absolutely invaluable to the NSPCC and we are very proud to have them as a partner in our fight for every childhood."
