WARRINGTON Wolves chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick says while 2018 was good - 2019 will be even better

WE were disappointed with how the Grand Final final went.

The effort in the Grand Final was outstanding but we lacked that little bit of spark to get ourselves over the line.

And Wigan defended superbly well.

We fell short on this occasion but we have learned a lot.

We have made significant strides from the start of the season and two finals is good but not quite good enough.

We expect to win things at this club.

As we look to next year, membership is already going well.

Sales are up eight per cent on the equivalent period last year and we have taken on board comments from members to extend the early bird deadline.

It is fantastic value, especially for juniors who get in every home and away Super League game for £49.

We have also frozen prices for the third year in a row.

The positives of the new structure have been shown in the fixtures released this week. Fans know when the games are up until September when the top five play-off starts.

The new structure is really exciting and will mean a four-week play off series before the Grand Final.

On the field we have some quality signings already for next year with Blake Austin, Jason Clarke Lama Tasi, Danny Walker and Matt Davis.

They will improve the squad significantly.

In Blake Austin we have a marquee player who is box office. I have already heard fans of other clubs saying they want to watch him while he is here.

We are still in the market for a couple of players, especially an outside back, but as I have mentioned before it is a difficult market.

Pre-season plans are well under way. We will play Widnes at home in mid January for Ryan Atkins’ testimonial game.

Due to the number of Super League games and cup games, we have taken the decision just to have one game.

We have had a number of players on international duty, seven with the Knights and three with England so we need to manage them.

Next week we will be launching our new kits which have a really exciting design.

We have recognised a period of our heritage with the home kit designed by O’Neills and with the away kit, we have a look for the younger market with a quite edgy design.

Finally we were named Super League club of the year for 2018 which we were delighted with.
