TWO men were attacked in Widnes after two teens riding a stolen bike.

Shortly after 12pm on Monday, two men, aged 46 and 47, were walking along Milton Road near to King George VI Park when one of them saw two youths with his bicycle, which had earlier been stolen from his address on Lodge Lane.

They approached the teenage boys and asked for the bike to be returned, at which point an altercation took place.

The 47-year-old sustained serious injuries and the 46-year-old suffered minor ones.

They were both taken to Whiston Hospital.

The youths fled the scene in the direction of Hale Road.

They left the bike behind but took a Samsung mobile phone that they had stolen from one of the victims.

Both of the offenders are believed to be white and in their late teens.

One of them was approximately 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins with a medium build and short, dark hair.

The other had a slim build and brown, mousey hair.

He was wearing a grey tracksuit and riding a dark coloured bike with grey writing on it.

Detective sergeant Marc Roberts said: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the offenders and make them face the consequences of their actions.

“King George VI Park is a busy area and I believe there will have been a number of people in the area at the time who may have vital information for our investigation."
