THE family of a man killed in a crash on the Southern Expressway in Runcorn have paid tribute to their ‘deeply-loved’ son.

Jon Schofield, 27, died in a fatal collision in Runcorn on Sunday.

His family said: “We are trying very hard to cope with the loss of our deeply loved son Jon.

"Jon was a talented guitar, piano and harmonica player who was pursuing a career in music.

“He was a thoughtful, genuine and loving young man who touched many people’s lives.

"He will be loved and missed forever by his mum and dad Shelley and David, his brother Richard, girlfriend Marisa and all his friends.”

Emergency services were called to the collision involving a silver Renault Megane car at 1pm which was being driven by Mr Schofield.

At the time of the collision the car was travelling in the direction of Murdishaw when it is believed to have collided with a bridge at the side of the carriageway.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.
