A TALENTED teenager who competed on ITV's The Voice Kids this summer, is set to star in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar in Liverpool.

Will Callan, from Runcorn, is a pupil at The Heath School and has been part of The Heath Perform and LIPA 4:19 theatre company since he was 8-years-old, playing many roles in a variety of shows.

Last year, he took on the challenge of staging a full-scale production of Les Miserables with others and he had the lead role of Jean Valjean.

The show was a phenomenal success and the youngsters received amazing reviews.

This year, the group is going one step further and will be taking on the iconic rock opera musical Jesus Christ Superstar at The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool.

Will, 15, and his co-stars have been rehearsing for almost a year for the show, with around 30 people making up the entire cast.

He said: "All the shows I have done have helped conquer my nerves so I'm looking forward to it now.

"The show is definitely a different experience as my part shows off a different vocal range and the style of music is 70s rock.

"The Voice really increased my confidence with it being live television and working with a professional vocal coach and live band was a great experience. I don't think I'd be able to sing the way I do now without that help."

Will will be playing the role of Jesus and wants to pursue a career in performing arts. In addition to his singing and dancing, the talented teenager also writes his own music and has been signed to a new management company.

He added: "I'm really excited for the show and hope everyone comes to watch it or else they are missing out!"

The show runs from October 25 to 27.
