A 70-YEAR-OLD man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash involving a car and a tractor has been released pending further enquiries.
The suspect was arrested after police closed Widnes Road near to Fiddlers Ferry following the collision at 6.30pm on Wednesday.
Firefighters used specialist equipment to cut the roof off the car to remove a 76-year-old who was trapped inside the vehicle.
She was taken to Aintree Hospital to be treated for injuries to her arm.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "The collision involved a Citroen car and a tractor.
"The passenger of the car, a 76-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
"A 70-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.”
