A WIDNES firm is set to star on the Great Model Railway Challenge.

Hattons Model Railways, which was established in 1946 and ships thousands of orders each week across the globe, will compete on the new Channel 5 TV show, which will run every Friday until November 9.

This will see teams across the UK battle it out to produce miniature worlds under strict conditions, with each episode having a unique theme.

Many of the works created on the show can easily be replicated at home by budding model railway enthusiasts using the vast range of over 25,000 products sold by Hattons.

Hattons managing director, Richard Davies, said: “We’re very pleased to see model railways being celebrated in the public eye and we’re really excited to see what is built on the show and what our customers create in response to it.

"Model railways enable you to develop a myriad of skills, including; woodworking, electricals and painting. We continue to be astounded by the creativity of our customers.”
