BLOOR Homes enlisted the help of imaginative students to name its new development in Sandymoor.

The national housebuilder approached Sandymoor School and challenged students to think of a fitting name for its development off Wharford Lane.

More than 100 pupils from years 10 and 11 took part in the competition.

The chosen name for the development is Beamish Place, put forward by year 11 pupil Callum Slack, who was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s poem Jabberwocky.

Callum, 15, and runner-up Abbey Higgins, 16, who suggested Cottontail Views, both received a certificate from Bloor Homes and a WH Smith gift voucher.

Both entries were inspired by the famous author Lewis Carroll, who was born in the nearby village of Daresbury.

Sarah Ransom, from Bloor North West, said: “It wasn’t an easy choice picking a winner, but we felt Beamish Place stood out because of its cheerful connotations and its connection through Lewis Carroll.

“We hope that Callum will feel a great deal of pride when he sees his winning suggestion on our signage.”
