A GRATEFUL patient has fundraised more than £8,000 for St Helens Hospital’s chemotherapy unit, the Lilac Centre, to thank staff for their care.
Two years ago, 52-year-old Jean Algeo from Widnes found a lump in her breast, and a hospital scan revealed the news that she had breast cancer.
Jean underwent successful breast surgery and then started chemotherapy treatment at the Lilac Centre.
During her rehabilitation, Jean visited the Lilac Centre for chemotherapy every week over the course of four months.
It was during one of these treatments that she noticed some patients were sat on waiting room chairs instead of the comfortable chair she had during chemotherapy.
Following her recovery, Jean decided to raise money for more comfortable chairs.
