QUESTION marks surround the future of a number of Leigh players.

And even boss Kieron Purtill’s future is unclear.

A number of Leigh stars have been linked with end of season moves but Purtill insists impending moves haven’t contributed to recent below par displays at Rochdale and again against Batley.

“At the moment it is just rumour and nothing is concrete,” added Purtill.

“You look at the Middle 8s and most of them don’t know where they are going to be playing.

“They still haven’t got their budgets sorted out.

“Even though players are talking to clubs everyone is in the same situation.

“They can’t nail a contract down or negotiate what they want because most of the clubs aren’t 100 percent sure of their budgets are going to be.”

Purtill’s own position is unclear once his contract ends next month. He has suggested he would consider working as a part-time coach next season but everything remains up in the air.

“There is a lot of work and negotiations going behind the scenes.

“But we need to get things sorted so we can start moving things forward and so everyone has an idea where we are heading as club.”

LEIGH Miners Rangers earned a place in the Division One promotion Grand Final with a 39-20 win over Featherstone Lions.

Miners put a disappointing fortnight behind them and now look ahead to the final and Milford Marlins on Saturday 6 October.
