POLICE officer searching for missing Widnes mum Lynda Crosby have found a body.

The discovery was made earlier this afternoon in the Netherley Road area, just outside the town.

Although formal ID is yet to take place, officers believe it to be 54-year-old mum-of-two Lynda Crosby, who was reported missing last Wednesday morning.

It is not thought that there are any suspicious circumstances.

Lynda’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Lynda's daughter Lauren said: "Myself, Gavin and our family would like to let everyone know that we didn't get the outcome we were hoping for.

"My Mum has passed away she is now at peace

"Please respect our privacy at the time.

"Thank you for everyone's love and support xx."

Widnes police would like to thank the community for supporting their efforts to locate Lynda.

Family, friends and neighbours have been searching tirelessly for the missing mum.

A police spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with her family and we ask on their behalf that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."
