A POLICE community support officer was assaulted as he tried to arrest yobs riding a nuisance motorbike.
A PCSO was on a bike patrol in Fallowfield on Halton Brook in Runcorn at 3.40pm on Saturday when he came across a group of youths riding a motorbike in an anti-social manner.
Whilst attempting to seize the bike the officer was assaulted and the youths ran from the scene.
A short time later, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a designated person and obstructing him.
He has since been released under investigation.
Sergeant Chris Maddocks said: "This PCSO was addressing an issue that mattered to this community. "We know that these nuisance motorbikes have caused significant annoyance and this PCSO was addressing this when he was assaulted."
