THE search is on to find teams to keep the Halton and District Junior Football League alive and kicking.

The league, which was established in 1971, had many clubs from all districts offering football from under sevens through to under 17s but times have changed.

Julie Cole said: "Football should and needs to be local once again in Halton.

"The league needs the help of all the clubs and teams out there, especially volunteers who want to be a part of this to ensure it continues to offer football to all.

"This season there are some funds available for new clubs and teams to help them get started.

"The committee will help with any paperwork that they may want assistance with to get up and running."

There is also Halton Borough Council sports development officer Jane Rhodes who works closely with the league works to offer support.

New teams and referees are invited to apply to join the league.

If you are a registered referee who would like to help or a team who would like to join the league then email Dave Wilson on secretary@hdjfl.org.uk or Colin Keam on keam@hotmail.co.uk.
