SUMMER fun events are taking off in Widnes to keep children entertained.

Green Oaks shopping centre is hosting a series of superhero Saturdays starting on July 28.

Each week kids can take part in a superhero themed craft session to help them on their way to becoming the ultimate hero.

From making their own mask to creating a cape or even perfecting their superhero stance, there’s something for every budding avenger to enjoy.

They can even take away all their crafty creations to test their superhero powers back at home!

To add to the fun, children can come along in their favourite superhero costume to receive a special treat on the days of the events.

Superhero Saturdays are taking place as part of Green Oak’s Summer of Giving, a series of family friendly events and activities in aid of Halton Haven Hospice.

All the craft activities are free but have a suggested donation of £2, all of which will go straight to the charity to support its work caring for local people with life-limiting conditions.

The programme of Superhero Saturdays craft activities is:

Saturday 28 July – Become a superhero by making and decorating your own mask and cuffs

Saturday 4 August – Create your own superhero wooden spoon, will it be Superman, Batman or maybe Wonder Woman?

Saturday 11 August – Perfect your superhero stance and take on the villains with a superhero shield

Saturday 18 August – Make your own superhero cape to become the ultimate avenger

Robert Cooke, operations manager at Green Oaks, said:“We can’t wait for the superhero fun to start at Green Oaks and we’re also hoping to raise lots of money for Halton Haven Hospice at the same time as part of our Summer of Giving."

Chris Andrews, senior fundraising manager at Halton Haven Hospice, said: “Superhero Saturdays at Green Oaks will be a great way for parents to keep the kids happy over the summer holidays!

"The donations received will go directly back to the charity and make such a difference to the work we do, so a big thank you to anyone who comes along and takes part.”
