A FAMILY fun day is being held at Runcorn Fire Station.

The open day takes place on Sunday, July 22, from 11am to 4pm, at the station on Heath Road.

There will be a range of activities to suit all ages.

Station manager Stuart Devereux said: "This is a great way for the community to discover more about their local fire station and learn about some of the work we undertake.

“Now is the perfect time to visit if you are interested in becoming a firefighter as a wholetime recruitment window has just opened.

“The team will be doing operational demonstrations throughout the day and there will also be the kitchen safety vehicle and a road traffic collision demonstration to keep visitors entertained, plus much more.

“We would like as many people as possible to come along to the open day, have a great time and leave with some vital safety messages.”

There will be a number of displays and the chance to look round a variety of modern and vintage fire and rescue vehicles.

In addition, there will be a smoke tent, a children’s entertainer and a variety of community stands including the Prince’s Trust and NHS.
