CREWS are continuing to tackle grass fires across Halton.
Firefighters were called to Peel House Lane in Widnes shortly after 5pm last night and used three beaters to put out flames.
An area of land measuring 50 metres by 60 metres had caught fire.
At the same time another crew dealt with a grass fire on Green Oaks Way.
Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Firefighters also tackled a grass fire on Gleadmere in Hough Green at around 3pm.
The fire was about the size of a football pitch and crews used beaters to extinguish it.
