TOP soul band The Real Thing is returning to Runcorn for a special concert.

Following the sad death of Eddy Amoo, his brother Chris and Dave Smith have decided to continue as a duo backed by The Real Thing band.

They are coming to the Brindley Theatre on Saturday, September 8.

The show will feature their million-selling hits including three number one singles in the 70s and 80s You To Me Are Everything, Can’t Get By Without You and Feel The Force.

The band was signed to Pye records and You To Me Are Everything was released in 1976 soaring to the top of the UK singles chart.

The group went on to have a further nine hits over a three-year period.

The band's iconic 4 from 8 album contained the L8 Medley which featured Children of the Ghetto which has been covered by artistes such as Mary J Bligh, Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire and Courtney Pine.

It has been sampled by many rap bands as well as being featured in the Spike Lee movie Clockers.

The band's Real Thing Live DVD was recorded at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool to celebrate 40 years on the road.

They also regularly perform at the Rewind the 80s festivals and the Here and Now festivals alongside such artists as Rick Astley, Boy George, Belinda Carlisle, Kool and the Gang and Chic.
