EXCITED children across Halton stepped into the shoes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stage their own royal wedding.
Amid bunting and flags lots of tea parties were held outside in the sunshine.
Pupils at Astmoor Primary School in Castlefields had fun dressing up as members of the royal family in their finery with matching hats and bags and re-enacted the entire wedding ceremony
Grace Young from the reception class played bride Meghan cut a wedding acke with groom Alec Jones from the nursery as Prince Harry.
Parents were invited to watch the special event.
Outgoing mayor and mayoress Cllrs Alan and Joan Lowe attended a royal tea party at Gorsewood Preschool in Murdishaw.
Anthony Downey and Emily Wright posed as soldiers from the Household Cavalry as children at Willowdene Private Day Nursery and Preschool in Widnes hosted a posh hat and bow tie royal garden party for the community.
Nursery manager Joanne Slydell said:“The children put so much effort into decorating the nursery.
“Events like this aren’t just fun for children, they’re an important part of teaching them about community, traditions and how we celebrate happy occasions. This furthers their understanding of the world around them and creates a wonderful sense of belonging.”
