THE Liverpool-bound M62 slip road near the Rainhill Stoops roundabout has reopened after a man was shot dead there on Saturday morning.
The victim of the shooting was 53-year-old John Kinsella from Rainhill, who was killed in an area of woodland.
The road remained shut yesterday as detectives investigated the scene.
Police believe it was a targeted attack in which he was shot from behind multiple times by a gunman who was riding a mountain bike.
It is thought that he was wearing a high-vis jacket.
Officers say Mr Kinsella was walking his dog with his partner at the time he was shot.
The area of woodland that he died runs between Rainhill and the border of Widnes.
