LABOUR has won a resounding victory in Halton's local election retaining all 17 of their contested seats.
The Libdems held on to Heath.
Halton Council leader Rob Polhill said: “I’m really pleased. We never take election results for granted but once again the people of Halton have given us a vote of confidence.
“We do face difficult challenges with the unfair cuts the Government is imposing on us.
“But we will continue to fight to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Some 54 candidates were vying for 18 seats as one third of the council stood down.
The turnout was 26.8 per cent.
