A GALA dinner is being held in Runcorn to help save lives.

Have a Heart Foundation is hosting a James Bond themed black tie event at The Holiday Inn on Wood Lane, Beechwood on Saturday, April 21.

A champagne reception will be followed by a three course dinner and entertainment by TV comedian Charlie Hale and singer Gary Barker from the X Factor.

Charlie is an accomplished comedian and after dinner speaker with many TV programmes to his name. He had an early football career with Manchester City and now presents on XS Radio Manchester.

Charlie will be joining the first ambassador for the foundation, Huddersfield Giants RLFC's Paul Clough.

Having played for four Super League clubs, Paul is a model professional on and off the pitch.

The foundation aims to buy diagnostic equipment for hospitals and defibrillators for sports and social clubs.

The charity recently donated a defibrillator to Runcorn Rowing Club.

The foundation was formed in 2013 by brothers Eric and Chris Hale.

Chris had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in December 2008 and received treatment from Halton, Warrington and Broadgreen hospitals.

After attending cardiac rehabilitation in Halton under the supervision of Carol Over, the two brothers decided to give something back to society and formed the foundation.

Chris had been a professional rugby player and Eric was an ex-ABA boxing champion.

With the help of their friends in sport, law, medical services and their families the foundation was officially registered as a charity in December 2013.
