I AM absolutely delighted to see that the access road to the Widnes Loops junction from Waterloo Road has reopened.
It means that residents who live in West Bank and people who work on the Eddarbridge estate can now get straight onto the roundabout leading to the Mersey Gateway instead of facing a big detour.
However I understand this link has only been reopened temporarily while Hutchinson Street is closed for the demolition of a bridge to be carried out.
This link road makes it so much quicker for us to get on and off the bridge or get into town, I simply cannot understand why this road can’t remain open permanently.
It was used for many months during the construction of the new crossing but closed when the bridge opened.
Without this link we have to make a long detour to get onto the bridge by either driving to Ditton or go along Ashley Way and past The Hive to gain access to the bridge.
I am appealing to everyone who is concerned with the management of the roads in this area to listen to us.
We already feel marooned in West Bank since the closure of the Silver Jubilee bridge means we have been left with only one bus and have to walk into town to get connections.
Please let us have some common sense and leave this link to the Widnes Loops roundabout open permanently.
