A MAN has tried to abduct a Widnes schoolgirl.

The 11-year-old was walking along a footpath from Blundell Road to Northway, when she felt someone grab her arm.

She was then dragged into a four door black car with blacked out windows and pushed back out again before she ran off down the road.

The attempted abduction happened at around 3.45pm on Thursday, February 22, as the girl reached the junction of Northway with Crossway.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, and of medium build.

He was wearing black Nike Hirachi trainers, a black North Face tracksuit, a dark grey woolly hat, and a black balaclava which covered his nose.

He also had a distinctive tattoo across the back of his left hand which may have been a person’s name in yellow and green, and a silver ring on his ring finger.

The man was wearing no socks and had a tattoo running up his leg.

DC Gary McClatchy said: “This is clearly concerning and we are making numerous enquiries to establish what has gone on here and identify the man.

“Thankfully we’ve had no other similar reports but would advise vigilance and report any suspicious activity to police.

“We have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”
