HALTON has a new councillor.
Labour’s Christopher Carlin was elected yesterday to serve the Halton Castle ward, following the death of one of Halton’s longest serving councillors.
Cllr Arthur Cole, 82, died in November last year, after serving the community for 40 years.
Cllr Carlin, of Tildsley Crescent, Runcorn, received 522 votes in a by election yesterday.
Independent candidate Darrin Whyte, of Cornwall Close, Runcorn, was runner up with 133 votes.
Conservative Ian Adams, of The Glen, Palacefields, Runcorn, came third with 88 votes.
The turnout was 16 per cent.
