ANYONE interested in becoming a foster carer can now find out information at an informal get together.

Monthly drop in events are being held in Runcorn and Widnes to encourage more people to consider looking after children.

People will be able to talk to Halton’s fostering team and chat to foster carers.

Halton Cllr Tom McInerney, board member for Children & Young People, Cllr Tom McInerney, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out about becoming a foster carer.

“These informal drop in events in convenient locations give people a chance to speak to directly to those who are already fostering and our service team.

“We really need more local people to come forward to become foster carers and we would encourage as many people as possible to drop in and find out more.”

Drop in events will be held at Halton Lea Library in Runcorn on January 18, March 15 and May 17 and at Costa Coffee in Widnes on February 15, April 26 and May 24.

Sessions run from 11am to 1pm.

Halton Council offers a free comprehensive training package.

Anyone over 21 with a spare room can apply.
