WITH Christmas just days away there is a price war going on in supermarkets over fresh vegetables.
I was amazed to see bags of potatoes, carrots and parsnips on sale in Tesco in Widnes on Sunday for just 29p.
If big retail giants can sell these items so cheaply during the festive season, why can’t they offer the same prices throughout the year?
We need to encourage families to cook and eat more healthy and nutritious meals, instead of relying on ready-made fast food.
The best way to entice people to change their habits is through their pockets.
