LIBRARIES in Runcorn and Widnes are braced for some animal antics this summer.
Halton’s libraries are calling on youngsters aged four to 11 to read six books during the holidays as part of this year’s animal-themed Summer Reading Challenge.
A total of 1,063 children signed up for the challenge, which is designed to keep kids reading when they are not in school.
Cllr Phil Harris, Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for libraries, said: “There’s a whole programme of events and activities planned at Widnes and Halton Lea libraries for families over the summer to celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge, including the Reading Riot and Halton Libraries’ Spy School.
“Just contact your local library to find out how to take part.”
