A NEW sensory room has opened at a Runcorn school.

Bridgewater Park Primary School in Castlefields was awarded funding to help design and create the new facility.

David Seddon, Friends of Bridgewater Park parent teacher association chairman, said: "The sensory room was a project we felt passionate about.

“After seeing the reaction of the children it is a project we are proud of.

“We are sure it will be of great benefit to the learning and development of the pupils.”

The sensory room was opened by the deputy mayor and mayoress of Halton, Cllr John Bradshaw and Cllr Marjorie Bradshaw.

Halton MP Derek Twigg and Widnes Vikings player Tom Armstrong attended the event.

Liverpool Housing Trust Community Team and the Halton Council area forum awarded funding for the project.
