A RARE opportunity is up for grabs to see the new Mersey Gateway bridge up close.

Halton’s Mayor and Mayoress have arranged for four lucky residents to visit to the construction site.

The prize is being offered as part of Mayor Cllr Ged Philbin’s raffle to raise funds for his two charities, Child Bereavement UK and the Let’s Go Stroke Club.

Winners will be driven in a minibus across the trestle bridge at the side of the site and see the iconic structure taking shape.

Cllr Ged Philbin said: “This is a great opportunity to visit the site and see the new bridge up close.

“It’s a once in a lifetime experience and not many people will have the chance to do it.”

Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Select Security Stadium.

The visit will take place between a Monday and Friday on a date to be arranged with Merseylink.

Raffle tickets priced £2 are available from Halton Direct Links in Runcorn Shopping Centre and Widnes town centre, Select Security Stadium, Kingsway Leisure Centre and Brookvale Recreation Centre.

Alternatively tickets can be obtained from the Mayor Cllr Ged Philbin on 07977 511031 or Mayoress Ros Wong on 07927 615124.

The draw will be made on May 12.

Entrants are advised that the trip is to a construction site and the minibus is not accessible for wheelchair users.
