THREE youths accused of a serious scissor attack on a 17-year-old student at a Widnes college appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today.

One of the teenagers admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and he also pleaded guilty to having an offensive weapon - a pair of scissors at Riverside College in Kingsway.

His two co-accused denied both offences, which allegedly occurred on December 7.

All three youths are 17 years old and cannot be identified for legal reasons.

It is thought the victim, a 17-year-old student, lives in St Helens but is originally from Bootle.

He was taken to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries after police found him with stab wounds in the college.

The boy who admitted the attack appeared for the hearing via video link from Wetherby Prison.

The other two, supported by relatives, are on bail and appeared in the dock, one of them in a suit.

They are to face trial, expected to last a week, beginning on June 12. They were further remanded on bail with conditions including a curfew with a tag and reporting regularly to a police station.

The third youth was further remanded in custody to await sentence after their trial.

The court heard that he has previous convictions for violence and possessing knives and Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, ordered a pre-sentence report to consider dangerousness.
