I HAVE recently heard that, as residents of Halton, free travel across the bridge will not exist.
Only 300 journeys.
Have we been lied to again?

A spokesman for the Mersey Gateway Project said: “There will be unlimited crossings on both bridges with no charge for eligible Halton residents who register in advance once they pay the annual £10 registration fee.
“The 300 free trips is a fair question as that was the original scheme, but Halton Council then reinvested £250 million it saved through procurement to extend the scheme to cover unlimited free crossings for eligible Halton residents who have registered.”
