THE reply from Halton Council to Mr Rowland’s complaint about trolleys, beer cans and other assorted rubbish dumped in Runcorn in last week’s World made me laugh.
Yes, we all understand it is not the council that treats the streets and grass areas as a convenient place to throw rubbish and use as a place for dogs to do their business.
But to say anyone should call them to report rubbish, fly-tipping etc is a joke.
Whenever I call to report anything, after waiting an age to speak to someone I am asked where the rubbish is and then told ‘it is nothing to do with us’.
I am advised to contact Your Housing as ‘it is their responsibility’.
When I call Your Housing they say ‘it is nothing to do with us, it is the council’s responsibility’.
