STAFF at a Runcorn opticians are getting on their bike today to support Blind Veterans UK.

Specsavers Runcorn is celebrating 100 years of the charity’s work helping blind ex-Service men and women, by fundraising in the store.

They will be riding an exercise bike from 10am to 4pm and serving a variety of treats at a charity cake stall.

They will also donate £1 from every sight test towards the fund.

Store director Chris Graham said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting Blind Veterans UK this year with our in-store cycle, cake sale, collection tins and eye test donations.

“The charity is currently supporting more than 4,000 blind veterans and with our help, they hope to reach their target of recruiting 700 new beneficiaries in the coming year."

Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-service men and women.

The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
