A GIANT £1 million indoor trampoline park is taking off in Widnes in July.

Husband and wife, Steve and Cheryl Cosgrove are converting a 27,000 sq ft warehouse in Bennetts Lane into one of the biggest leisure venues of its kind in the UK.

It will have 100 interconnected trampolines with seating for 150 people and a mezzanine viewing gallery.

Chefs will prepare fresh food on site in a full sized industrial kitchen as the venue will cater for children’s parties and team building events.

Dad-of-three Steve, aged 44, who grew up in Halton View Road, Widnes, said: “We found out about this craze from Dubai and America.

“This is the best thing we have ever done.

“It is a huge investment. We are excited.

“We chose Widnes because it has great road links. I lived there as a child. It’s hardly recognisable now as so much has changed and developed.

“We expect to attract people of all ages from miles around.”

Steve, who went to Warrington Road Primary School, is a property developer.

He runs Velocity Leisure Limited and has a children’s soft play centre in Speke. He plans to open a second trampoline park in Aintree in September.

Velocity Trampoline Park in Halton View will create 30 full and part time jobs.

Some staff have already been appointed.

Steve added: “We want to create jobs for as many local people as possible.

“We will be open for the school holidays.

“We will have a training room where everyone will be given a safety brief.

“We want people to have lots of fun but jump within limits.”

Halton Council leader Cllr Rob Polhill said: “It’s great that someone who grew up in Widnes is coming back to invest here.

“We wish him well.”
